Can I check a PDF without creating an account?
Yes. Upload one PDF up to 10 MiB and 25 pages. The public checker shows a technical risk summary and up to three machine-detected findings without requiring an account.
What happens to the PDF after the check?
The source file is retained for 24 hours so the scanner can finish, then it is deleted under the public checker retention policy. The filename, checker token, and result content are not sent to website analytics.
Does a low risk score mean the PDF is accessible?
No. The score summarizes machine-detected technical risk. Reading order, alternative text quality, table meaning, form behavior, and complete use with assistive technology still require human review.
Which PDF accessibility standard does the free checker use?
The free preview uses the AccessPreflight PDF/UA-1 machine-verifiable profile. It does not certify PDF/UA conformance, WCAG conformance, ADA compliance, or legal compliance.
Can I upload an encrypted or password-protected PDF?
No. The scanner must be able to read the document structure, so password-protected and encrypted PDFs are rejected. Remove the password from an authorized copy before checking it.
Will the checker repair my PDF?
No. It identifies supported technical problems and gives a first repair direction. The PDF must be changed in its source application or remediation tool, exported again, and retested.
